The ultimate goal from the perspective of evidence-based medicine is to achieve a worldwide consensus on a standardized minimum/core dataset to be used in trials, clinical practice and registries.

The construction of these standardized datasets is the aim of a new international collaborative project which will be presented during this lecture. This project will follow a specific methodology and will be performed in collaboration with several international partners. This initiative will finally allow better interpretation, comparison and pooling of results from different international centers and trials worldwide and will therefore provide essential information to get more insight in the disease and its management.
